As the first Navy squadron to work up the F-35 Lightning II for carrier deployment, VFA-147 - based at NAS Lemoore, CA has been at the forefront of Naval Aviation for forty years. Here depicted are a "fantasy" collection of aircraft flown by the U.S. Navy Squadron VFA-147, known as the "Argonauts". Aircraft depicted include the A-7A Corsair II off the USS Ranger(as deployed in the first Corsair deployment into the Vietnam War); F-18C Hornet off the John C. Stennis circa 2009, and the CAG aircraft off the USS Nimitz and based at NAS Lemoore, 2015. This image was commissioned by the squadron in 2021.

Stu Shepherd has been an aviation illustrator for nearly twenty years. His work is mostly known by box cover art on aircraft model kits made by Revell and Monogram, for whom he has done over 300 images (now including car box art and Star Wars items too). Stu has also worked in the Computer Game and Internet Community industries. He also creates art in the Science Fiction and Fantasy Genres, with his strength in spaceship design and environments. Stu just completed his first novel Sci-fi, and will soon complete his second. He lives in Central California.
