Artist's Description
The first of a venerable line of transports, the C-97/KC-97 series from Boeing, only ten YC-97s were built, all flying for the Pacific Division of the Air Transport Command from Fairfield-Suisun (Now Travis AFB, CA) from 1947-1948. The YC-97 was used mostly on the California-Hawaii run, but one also served during the Berlin Airlift Crisis. The Stratofreighter, once revised with upgraded engines, served as a freighter and transport for three decades, the last models known mostly as the KC-97 aerial refueler.

Another great digital painting! The C-97 is perfectly rendered, and the background sky is simply masterfully done.
