Very nice. So cool to finally one day meet one of the designers for the box covers of all those cool model kits of boyhood!! BTW, who was the number one ace pilot of WWII South Pacific, New Guniea? Pappy Boyington, maybe? I grew up with a friend who's dad was an marine aircraft mechanic for him in the New Guinea area.

Artist's Description

Maj. Thomas B. McGuire was the second highest ranking American Ace of World War II. Dealing with the harsh tropical conditions in the New Guinea area, P-38s of the 5th Air Force helped wreck the Japanese war machine in the South Pacific. McGuire had 38 kills when he died trying to save a fellow pilot from an attack. "Pudgy" was an early P-38H model, one of the first effective types against the more nimble Japanese fighters.
